Distillery Information

Zwack is a Budapest, Hungary based company that makes liqueurs and spirits. The company produces an 80 proof (40% alcohol) herbal liqueur known as Unicum from a secret blend of more than forty different herbs and spices.
Slivovitz with the distinctive aroma and delicate flavor of plums is obtained once the mash from a single batch has been triple distilled. Freshly distilled slivovitz has a relatively high degree of alcohol (around 56% abv; 112 proof) and is therefore diluted with spring water to a final 50% abv (100 proof).
The fruit comes from tress no less than 20 years old and the mash is fermented for 3 months in large 2,000 gallon tanks. After a second distillation, it is matured in specially treated 500-gallon oak casks for a minimum of 2 years.
