Distillery Information

It was originally founded in Pennsylvania as Shenk's distillery in 1753, before becoming Bomberger's, and then Michter's in the mid-20th century. Now based in Louisville, Kentucky, it's known for producing quality small batch expressions. The distillery produces an extensive range of bourbon and rye whiskies.
Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery is located at 801 W. Main St. in Louisville, Ky. Most of Michter's whiskey is made at its distillery in the Shively neighborhood of Louisville, which is not open to the public.
To date, all these whiskies have been either sourced or contract distilled by Michter's from unknown distilleries. However, after 3 years of tweaking their equipment, Michter's started barreling their own distillate at an entry proof of 103 in late August 2015.Aging: Michter's US*1 Small Batch Bourbon is typically aged in new, charred American white oak barrels for an undisclosed but relatively short period, typically around 4 to 6 years. This aging allows the bourbon to develop its rich and flavorful character.
Many experts generally acknowledge Kentucky to be the premier whiskey-distilling region in the country, followed by Tennessee as a close second.
The Early Years: Revolutionary Rye in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania.
