Distillery Information

Larceny is the heir to the wheated Bourbons that make up the historic Old Fitzgerald franchise that Heaven Hill acquired in 1999. In fact, it is the somewhat controversial history of John E. Fitzgerald and his eponymous Bourbon brand that provides the story, and name, to Larceny Bourbon.
Larceny was hand selected by the Master Distillers to have a taste profile of a six-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
As of 2018, 95% of all bourbon is produced in Kentucky, according to the Kentucky Distillers' Association. As of 2018, there were 68 whiskey distilleries in Kentucky, this was up 250 percent in the past ten years.
There are 809 Whiskey & Bourbon Distilleries businesses in the US as of 2023, an increase of 13.7% from 2022.In this case, Heaven Hill tells us that the recipe is 68% corn (remember to be bourbon it needs over 51% corn in the mash bill), 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. They dump, blend, and bottle at whatever strength it comes out of the barrel. To be bourbon, whiskey must be (1) made and aged in the U.S., (2) made from a mash that is at least 51% corn, (3) distilled to a proof no higher than 159 (79.5 percent ABV), (4) aged in new charred oak barrels and put into the barrel at no more than 125 proof (“entry proof”), and (5) bottled at no less than 80 proof, ...
Most bourbons are distilled twice, usually once in a column still (beer still) which takes the strength up to approximately 50-60% abv and then again in direct heated copper pot stills known as 'doublers' (or 'thumpers' if the still is steam heated so emitting a thumping sound), which continue to remove fusil oils and ...
