Created in a small town in the highlands of Jalisco, our founder Dwayne Johnson worked with a Mexican family-owned distillery to build a unique home on the grounds solely for Teremana - Destilería Teremana de Agave. Here they craft Teremana with a love for great tequila made the right way, in small batches, by hand.
A tequila aged for one-to-three years in oak. This is a sipping tequila, one that exhibits not only flavors of agave, but rich vanilla and floral aromas as well.
Tequila is a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant. The drink is typically composed of 40% – 60% alcohol by volume (80 – 120 proof) and is made in Mexico. Tequila is made from the heart of the agave plant, which is called the piña.A quirky, artsy city of 26,000 inhabitants about 40 miles from the state capital of Guadalajara, a visit to Tequila proper is a must for any true agave aficionado. There are about 150 registered distilleries in all of Jalisco, of which about 20 reside in the namesake city and immediate area.Like other types of tequila, añejos are produced in Mexico's highland and lowland regions. The richer soil of the highlands can make this region's agaves sweeter, making for fruitier tequilas. And lowland tequilas taste earthier because of the area's water.
The first distillation process takes place in steel distillation columns, during which water is removed and alcohol is concentrated from fermented agave juice. The second distillation takes place in stills to obtain tequila with a range of 55-65% alcohol, depending on the brand.
