The Rutte distillery has been distilling in Dordrecht since 1872. They pass recipes from generation to generation, and whilst the Rutte family hasn't owned the distillery since the 1990's, its still their processes and recipes which inspire the current distillers.Rutte gins, genevers and liqueurs since 1872. Since 1872, the Rutte Distillery has been making gins, genevers and liqueurs in Dordrecht, using traditional methods and only the very best ingredients.
A Dutch spirit that is Anglo styled, Gin 1689 is fundamentally a traditionally-styled juniper-forward gin, however what makes it unusual is the hints of breadiness and aniseed that you would usually expect from a Jenever. It's a classic flavour profile, that presents in a very contemporary way.
Netherlands gins, known as Hollands, geneva, genever, or Schiedam, for a distilling centre near Rotterdam, are made from a mash containing barley malt, fermented to make beer.The real difference between English Dry Gin and Dutch Genever isn't the aromatics used (these vary from brand to brand); but, the base spirit. With London Gins coming from spirit distilled from wheat/rye and Genever coming from mashes with a high percentage of malted barley.
