Pussers Rum Blue Label is a 3 year old Guyanese rum, the same rum as the Pusser's Gunpowder Proof, but bottled at a slightly more approachable 40% ABV. Pussers Rum is produced by Demerara Distillers Ltd in Guyana and is named after the Royal Navy Slang for a purser, a ship's supply officer.
Pusser's Rum is the product of stills located in Guyana. The rums are blended to create the ideal balance of naturally occurring flavouring compounds known as “esters” and “congeners.” Unlike most rums, Pusser's is all natural and is never artificially flavoured or coloured.
Pusser's is the Royal Navy rum. The recipe for the original admiralty blend was secured by Founder Charles Tobias in 1979 and is now known across the world as one of the most historic and authentic rums available today.Pusser's Rum was a daily issue to the Royal Navy from 1655 to 1970, helping its men through even the most difficult situations at sea. It takes its name from the purser, who would distribute the rum aboard ship. Today the award-winning rum is made to the same specification as the original Royal Navy rum.
The Pusser's Rum tradition is still alive. In 1979, Charles Tobias–entrepreneur, global sailor, raconteur–sought to resurrect thePusser's Rum tradition. He obtained the rights and all the blending information from the Admiralty, and formed Pusser's Ltd.
