Behind the ultra-premium range of Purity Vodka, produced by Purity Distillery located in the 13th century Ellinge Castle in southern Sweden, stand the famous Master Blender Mathias Tönnesson and Master Distiller Stefan Magnusson.
Made from organic winter wheat and barley, Purity Vodka comes to life in a handcrafted copper and gold still where each blend yields only a small batch, which is never rushed, as to not compromise quality.Vodka goes through a column distillation process. This concept arrived in the 19th century when commercial distillers needed a faster method than pot distilling, which required cleaning after every batch. Column distilling involves large columns where mash/wash is constantly injected, and the steam rises to meet it.
Vodka is a distilled alcoholic beverage (38% + ABV) made from grains or vegetables (or any other raw carbohydrates like potatoes, sugar beet, and corn for that matter). Vodka is one of those spirits in which the delicate flavor of the base ingredient used may or may not be tasted in the final product.
Some claim that it originated as early as the 8th or 9th century in either Poland or Russia. Regardless of when or where it originated, a liquor called vodka was present in Russia during the 14th century.
