Distillery Information

At present, there are four active rum distilleries on the island: Foursquare, Mount Gay, WIRD (West Indies Rum Distillery) and St Nicholas Abbey.
Plantation Rum Barbados 2011 is a rum produced by the West Indies Rum Distillery (WIRD). This distillery in Barbados belongs to the cognac house Ferrand which also owns Plantation rums. Each year Plantation releases a series of rums for its collection called Single Casks. This cuvée is part of the 2022 selection.
Maison Ferrand is the owner of the Plantation rum brand with global distribution in 68 countries. The company produces Cognac and gin at its facility in Cognac, France and the purchase of West Indies Rum Distillery (WIRD) marks the first distillery acquisition outside of France.The process of transforming the sugar cane into Barbados rum starts with the harvesting of the sugar cane - A back-breaking process, which subsequently also fueled the infamous slave trade. The harvested cane was then ground using the windmill technology introduced by the Jews on the island.
