La Prima De Pancho Pistolas Reposado is a 9 month old tequila aged in used oak bourbon barrels. Sweet palate with a caramel entry that fades to a toasted oak midpalate. A long finish follows, with hints of spice, citrus and oak dodging in and out. A perfect collectors bottle.Reposado means “rested” in Spanish, and reposados rest anywhere from two months to a year before they are bottled. Reposados take on the gold hue from the barrels in which they are aged. They are typically aged in oak or white oak barrels, and the type of barrel changes the flavor of each distillery's tequila.
Reposado – Tequila aged between 2-12 months in oak barrels. Joven – A mixture of Blanco and Reposado tequilas. Añejo – Tequilas aged between 1-3 years in oak barrels. Extra Añejo is aged 3 years or more.Crafted from 100% blue agave, the process begins with slow-cooking the agaves in brick ovens to extract their unique flavors. The fermented juice is then distilled to capture the essence of the agave. Following this, the tequila is aged for at least seven months in American white oak barrels.Reposado sees a little bit of aging in oak barrels, generally from a few months to a year which gives it a beautiful subtle golden color. This slight aging process helps to temper the strong agave flavor without masking it. On top of the agave flavor, you will notice a subtle balance of fruits, florals, and spices.
