Tasting Notes

The reposado spirit usually has a dark golden color, notes of caramel and honey, and a warm, toasty finish. Reposados are unique since they hold tequila's classic flavors of citrus and spice and combine the complexity of chocolate, chili, cinnamon and vanilla.

Tequila is made in Mexico, specifically in one of 5 approved states (Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas). But, most of tequila is made in the Tequila Valley ("Lowlands") and Los Altos ("Highlands") of the state of Jalisco.Reposado is made when Blanco tequila is aged anywhere from 2 to 11 months in oak barrels. This aging process allows the spirit to mellow and take on a deeper, more complex character. Reposado has a softer, smoother, more aromatic flavor than Blanco and often takes on vanilla or caramel flavors from the oak aging.Reposado means “rested” in Spanish, and reposados rest anywhere from two months to a year before they are bottled. Reposados take on the gold hue from the barrels in which they are aged. They are typically aged in oak or white oak barrels, and the type of barrel changes the flavor of each distillery's tequila.
Tequila reposado is aged 2 to 12 months in oak barrels (reposado means “rested” in Spanish). It has a smooth flavor and notes of oak, vanilla, and caramel.
