Distillery Information

Sauvignon Blanc is most famously produced in Marlborough, New Zealand and France, where (in the former) its telltale gooseberry and grapefruit notes shine most brightly. It also does well in Australia, particularly Margaret River in the far west of the country, in addition to the Adelaide Hills.Tangy peach, mango and tangerine flavors with fresh herbal details. Smooth and round, with a vibrant acidity.
Nobilo vineyards are spread throughout the sub-regions of Marlborough. “No other region in the world can match Marlborough, the northeastern corner of New Zealand's South Island, which seems to be the best place in the world to grow Sauvignon Blanc grapes."- George M. Taber, noted American wine critic.
Sauvignon blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originates from the city of Bordeaux in France. The grape most likely gets its name from the French words sauvage ("wild") and blanc ("white") due to its early origins as an indigenous grape in South West France.
The Nobilo family company was, in turn, acquired by BRL Hardy, one of Australia's largest winemakers, 2000. BRL Hardy merged Nobilo with its Constellation Brands wines in 2003. The new combined company, Constellation Wines, was able to distribute Nobilo wines throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the Americas.
Sauvignon Blanc is usually made in a dry style. This means that after the grapes are pressed, the sugar from the grape must is converted into alcohol by yeast. When all of the sugar is converted, it creates a fully dry wine.Coupled with a crisp dryness, light body and mellow colour and you can see why so many of us enjoy it. Sauvignon Blanc is almost always dry and young in style and rarely aged, although it is used in France to make refreshingly delicate, sweet dessert wines.
On the nose, expect pungent, in-your-face aromas ranging from freshly cut grass, peas and asparagus, to tropical and ripe passion fruit, grapefruit, or even mango. On the palate wines taste light bodied with racy acidity and moderate alcohol. Occasionally, Sauvignon Blanc ages in oak.
A fruity wine that is very clean, soft and off-dry. Grapes are picked from selected vineyards.
