Monkey 47 is a batch distilled and handcrafted gin from Germany's Black Forest. In total, 47 handpicked plant ingredients prepared in extremely soft water from the Black Forest lend Monkey 47 unrivalled complexity and quality.
For some time now, Monkey 47 has been produced in the Black Forest at a distillery dubbed “Zum Wilden Affen”. This facility is located at the Schaberhof just south of Lossburg, near the former site of a village called Vogelsberg that first appears in the annals of history around the year 1297.
From the Black Forest in Germany, Monkey 47 Gin gets it's name from the 47 botanicals that go into this unique gin, and the fact it's bottled at a healthy 47%. Including mint, elderberry, allspice, cloves and ginger it seems that the botanicals speak for themselves as the gin has received plenty of critical acclaim.
Produced exclusively by hand using traditional distilling methods and 100% fresh plant ingredients and married with the soft water of the Black Forest. Its name says it all: Exactly 47 different plant ingredients have found their way into the "Monkey 47" recipe.The bottle is topped off with a cork lid, sourced from the Ribatejo region of Portugal, and a custom made metal ring. The ring reads “E Pluribus Unum,” which means “Out of Many One” in Latin. Monkey 47 is bottled in the Black Forest at a bottling facility, but not at the distillery. Please Drink Responsibly.
Distilled gin is made by redistilling white grain spirit and raw cane sugar which has been flavoured with juniper berries. Compound gin is made by flavouring neutral grain spirit with juniper berries without redistilling and can be considered a flavoured vodka.
