The company started in the mid-19th century, as a vermouth bottling plant in Pessione – the Distilleria Nazionale di Spirito di Vino. Three men came to dominate the company, businessman Alessandro Martini, winemaker Luigi Rossi and accountant Teofilo Sola. In 1863, they changed the name to Martini, Sola & Cia.For our vermouth, we blend crisp white wines, including the Trebbiano of Emilia Romagna and the Cataratto of Sicily, together with carefully formulated combinations of aromatic fruit, barks, exotic spices and herbs, such as Artemisia – picked from the nearby fields of Pancalieri – to create MARTINI & ROSSI®'s sought- .Martini & Rossi Asti is a fruity sparkling wine made from the finest 'Moscato Bianco' grapes grown in the heart of the prestigious Italian D.O.C.G. area. Top quality ripe grapes from a single variety are fermented once only.
Bacardi acquired MARTINI & ROSSI in 1993, but the art of blending at MARTINI has never changed and is a skill trusted to a select few, passed down from master to master through eight generations.
Made using the Martinotti method, dating back to 1895, it is the result of a strictly controlled fermentation process which guarantees consistently high quality and captures the natural sweetness of the Moscato Bianco grape.
