Distillery Information

The margarita originated in the '30s or '40s along the Mexico/US border near Juarez or Tijuana. Margarita is the Spanish word for daisy and legend has it that a bar owner created the drink for a local showgirl after he couldn't remember how to make the “Magnolia” cocktail she had ordered.Margarita Island, island in the Caribbean Sea, 12 miles (19 km) north of the Península de Araya in northeastern Venezuela. Also known as the Isle of Pearls, Margarita is the largest of 70 islands comprising Nueva Esparta estado (state).
Thus, although later pioneers may also have duplicated the discovery, the Margarita was invented in 1942 by a Mexican, now Mexican-American, named Francisco Morales. It was named after a flower, not a girl—though people joke about it being named after Francisco's wife, whom he married in 1956.
A Margarita wine cocktail is a combination of white wine and lime juice, usually served with a salted rim. The drink is named after the famous Mexican tequila-based cocktail the Margarita, which was invented in the 1940s.Margherita is a classic feminine name of Italian origin to always remind baby of how precious and priceless they are. One translation is “daisy,” and it can connect your little one to a classic flower commonly associated with spring and summer.
