Distillery Information

Introducing I.W Harper Cabernet Cask Reserve. This spirit is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aged for four years in new charred American oak barrels, then perfected in luxury California Cabernet Sauvignon casks and bottled at Stitzel-Weller Distillery, one of the true cathedrals of the American Whisky industry.Isaac Wolfe Bernheim (November 4, 1848 – April 1, 1945) was an American businessman notable for starting the I. W. Harper brand of premium bourbon whiskey (a historically important brand currently owned by Diageo).
Harper's story begins in 1848 when our founder, Isaac Wolf Bernheim, came to America with $4 and a dream. A century later, his bourbon whiskey empire remains. The Bernheim Bros. distillery opened its doors in 1870 and thrived through Prohibition.
Harper begins in 1848, when German immigrant Isaac Wolfe (I.W.) Bernheim arrived in America with $4 and a dream and founded his own distillery to produce I.W. Harper Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Redemption Whiskey is carefully hand-crafted in the river town of Lawrenceburg, Indiana at the 172-year-old MGP Distillery – Whisky Advocate's 2015 Distiller of the Year.
After being cleared from U.S. shelves in the early 1990s, I.W. Harper Bourbon, which is aged for a minimum of four years at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, is now available again!
Ironically it's an Irish (and not Scottish) distillery that claims the oldest licensed whisky distillery in the world! King James granted the Governer of County Antrim a license to distil Bushmills in 1608, even though the trademark license was only registered in 1784.
