Similar to some pink gins, it adds strawberry flavor after distillation. However, Indoggo Gin does not add any sweetening. Despite the vibrant purple bottle, the spirit inside is perfectly clear.
Gin is made using a clear, neutral spirit made from distilling grains such as rye, barley, wheat, or corn. While another common clear liquor—vodka—can be made with similar grains, gin and vodka are definitely not the same.Gin is made by distilling a neutral grain alcohol with juniper berries and other botanicals to make the fragrant spirit we all know and love. The botanicals are infused into the raw spirit to release their flavours. You can also vary the recipe by adding different spices, fruits and floral elements.
A Dutch physician who went by the name of Franciscus Sylvius is thought to be the 'inventor' of gin having started prescribing a juniper-based distilled spirit for medicinal purposes in 1550.It was the Dutch with their Genever (or Jenever) who is known to be the birth-parent of gin, which is why Genever is often referred to as 'the father of gin'.
