Theres dill pickle, peach iced tea, mint leaves, and boysenberry syrup on the nose. With water, sliced apple and pear, and a chalky sugary sweetness. The palate is piney, with rich dark chocolate and coffee. A tangy finish brings with it citrus and mint oil.

A straight-rye must be aged for at least two years in barrel. If aged less than four years an age statement must be included on the bottle. ◦ High-rye: Any whiskey with more than 51% rye but typically containing around 70% rye. ◦ Empire rye: A straight rye whiskey produced in New York State with at least 75% rye.Made from 100 percent farm-grown rye grain and aged 16 years in newly charred American Oak Barrels, this rare and bold offering is sourced from Alberta Distillers Limited and bottled at cask strength in Philadelphia, PA.His grandfather, Maurice, founded Cooper Brewery in the early 20th century and his father, Sky, worked at Charles Jacquin et Cie, a distillery in Pennsylvania. Hochstadter's Slow and Low Rock & Rye is made in Philadelphia "the birthplace of Rock & Rye" with a backbone of straight rye whiskey.Rye production soon took off in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Monongahela, Pennsylvania became one of the main locations for Rye Whiskey production, including the Joseph Sinnet Distillery, that eventually grew to have locations in Boston, Georgia and Louisiana.Rye whiskey was historically the prevalent whiskey in the northeastern states, especially Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland.
