Distillery Information

A Blended Whisky From The Kaikyo Distillery, the Hatozaki blend sees the marriage of both malt and grain whiskies, including whisky distilled in Japan and imported stocks. The whisky is named after the Hatozaki lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in Japan.

The Beginnings The first Japanese whisky distillery was established in 1924 by Shinjiro Torii, who wanted to bring the taste of Scotland to Japan. Torii hired Masataka Taketsuru, who had studied whisky-making in Scotland, to help establish the distillery and produce the first Japanese whisky.
A vatting of 100% malt whiskies aged in imported bourbon casks, imported sherry casks and native Mizunara oak barrels. Rich profile of sweet cereals and malty dried fruit with a light touch of smoke and honey on the finish.
The Yamazaki Distillery is Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery established in 1923 by Suntory's founder Shinjiro Torii. Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terrain and climate completely different to those of Scotland to create a unique kind of whisky.
Located at the base of Mount Fuji, this Kirin-owned distillery is the largest distillery in the world, producing 12 million litres of whisky each year.
