Fundador is the market-leading Spanish grape brandy. Made using Airen and Palomino grapes, Fundador (literally 'Founder') was the first brand marketed as a 'Brandy de Jerez and is aged in a sherry-soaked Solera.
Brandy refers to a distilled spirit made from a fruit-based wine and originates from the word 'brandewijn' which is Dutch for 'burnt wine. ' It can be produced using any fruits, for example pears apples or cherries, but brandy that is not made from grapes must be labelled with the fruit that it's made from.
Brandy is produced by distilling grape wine, while whisky is distilled from cereals such as malted barley, rye, and corn. Brandy de Jerez, on the other hand, is aged in American oak casks that have previously aged sherry wines. The criaderas and solera system is used for ageing.
