Tasting Notes

Appearance: Rich amber with golden hues, reflecting the brandy's maturation in sherry casks.

Nose: Inviting aromas of dried fruits, including figs and raisins, mingle with warm spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Subtle notes of oak and vanilla add depth, while a hint of caramel sweetness rounds out the bouquet.

Distillery Information

The brandy must have been produced exclusively within the municipal boundaries of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. It must be aged in American oak casks with a capacity of 500 liters that previously contained sherry.
The taste of our brandy dates back to 1874, when Fundador was born, the first Brandy de Jerez made in Spain. That year, we began to make one of the best brandies in the world, at the oldest winery in Jerez.

Fundador is the market-leading Spanish grape brandy. Made using Airen and Palomino grapes, Fundador (literally 'Founder') was the first brand marketed as a 'Brandy de Jerez and is aged in a sherry-soaked Solera.
Brandy refers to a distilled spirit made from a fruit-based wine and originates from the word 'brandewijn' which is Dutch for 'burnt wine. ' It can be produced using any fruits, for example pears apples or cherries, but brandy that is not made from grapes must be labelled with the fruit that it's made from.
Brandy is produced by distilling grape wine, while whisky is distilled from cereals such as malted barley, rye, and corn. Brandy de Jerez, on the other hand, is aged in American oak casks that have previously aged sherry wines. The criaderas and solera system is used for ageing.
