Established in 1973, Franciscan is now owned by E&J Gallo. The first vintage of Franciscan was produced in 1975 by Justin Meyer, who was famous for being the winemaker at Silver Oak Winery. The winery grew to a thriving, successful business, thanks to the help of vintner Agustin Huneeus, owner of Quintessa Winery.
