The long-awaited Single Malt Batch 4 from the Dingle Distillery in Co. Kerry. This whiskey has been carefully matured in a combination of Bourbon, Port and Sherry casks, resulting in a full-flavoured, balanced mix of vanilla, oak, dried fruit, apricot and sultanas.
The Dingle Distillery opened in 2012 in the old sawmills on the Milltown Road just outside Dingle. The Dingle Distillery grew out of The Porterhouse Brewing Company which opened Ireland's first "brewpub" in Dublin in 1996 and which spearheaded the now thriving craft brewing movement in Ireland.
Dingle Single Malt is mainly six to seven year old spirit which has been matured in PX Sherry and Bourbon first-fill casks.Malt Irish whiskey is made using 100% malted barley and distilled in pot stills. Single malt whiskey comes from only one distillery. Pot Still Irish whiskey is made from a mash of a minimum 30% malted and a minimum 30% unmalted barley, with up to 5% of other cereals added, and is distilled in pot stills.90 Proof / A blend of Barterhouse, Forged Oak and various Rhetoric releases with aged rye and corn whiskies. A unique balance of age and flavor accenting the rich, creamy character of the orphaned bourbons with the spiciness of the aged rye whiskey.
Dingle was an important trading port during the 16th century with merchant ships trading wine and other goods with ports in France, Spain and Britain. Spanish merchants were said to have lived in Dingle and some of the buildings were built in the Spanish fashion.
