Distillery Information

Añejo refers to tequila that has been aged in oak barrels anywhere from one to three years. PATRÓN AÑEJO is carefully distilled and then aged for over 12 months in a combination of French oak, Hungarian oak and used American whiskey barrels to create our ultra-premium tequila.
The city name literally translates to "Purest of the Corner" and the town is named after the Immaculate Conception. The brand was founded by Brent Hocking in 2008 and purchased in 2013 by Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs and the beverages giant Diageo as equal ownership partners.
Añejo tequila is made from carefully harvested blue agave plants, and then aged in sealed oak barrels of up to 600 liters for at least one year, but often up to three. This gives the expression even more woody notes than their reposado counterparts.
DeLeón Añejo is made from 6 to 8 year blue Weber agave harvested from Jalisco's Los Altos (Highland) region. It spends over a year aging in two types of casks: American oak and ex-French Sauternes oak casks. This tequila is part of DeLeón's "Ultra-Premium" line that includes a blanco and reposado.
Tequila is a distilled spirit made from the Weber blue agave plant that grows in Mexico. The blue agave plant has huge spikes that come up from a central core that is called the pina. After the leaves are removed, the pina is the part of the plant that is used to make tequila.Of the nearly 140 tequila distilleries in Mexico, hers is the only one that's led and operated solely by women. Melly Barajas walks through a field of blue agave plants in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, Mexico.
