Distillery Information

Del Maguey Vida Mezcal is an artisinal, single village agave Spirit, from the village of San Luis Del Rio in Oaxaca. This Mezcal is distilled from Espadin, an Angustofolia Haw agave species that is roasted for 3-8 days using Mezquite, Quebrachi, Huamuchil wood.The top-selling mezcal in the USA, Del Maguey was founded in 1995 with the aim of introducing the world to artisanal mezcal produced the traditional way. Each of Del Maguey's single-village mezcals is made by individual family producers in remote villages in Oaxaca and Pueblo using 400-year-old Zapotec methods.
Mezcal distillation is a traditional and artisanal process. Most producers use clay or wood stills heated by direct fire, often with materials from the surrounding environment. These stills are much smaller than modern ones, making batches unique and limited.Pernod Ricard acquired a majority stake in Del Maguey for an undisclosed amount this summer. The French conglomerate also owns Altos and Avión tequilas.
