Distillery Information

Located in Vinci—the hilly, atmospheric town home to Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci—this industrious co-op thrives today, comprised now of some 200 growers who collectively preside over more than 1,200 acres of vineyards throughout Chianti, as well as 267 acres in neighboring Montalcino.
DaVinci Chianti is a well-balanced wine of medium weight with jammy flavors of ripe plums, cherries and red fruit. It has a deep crimson color and is a lively wine with a soft mineral finish and round tannins that linger in long, peppery finish.
The first documents in which Chianti is mentioned as a wine area date back to the 13th century as a reference to the League of Chianti, created in Florence in an attempt to form regulations for Radda, Gaiole, and Castellina, producers of red wine made from a base of Sangiovese.
And each bottle of our wine begins its life just outside the historic town of Vinci. There in the Tuscan hillsides, over 200 local winegrowers have joined together to form Cantine Leonardo da Vinci - an innovative growers' cooperative committed to producing authentic Tuscan wine.
On the palate, DaVinci Chianti showcases jammy flavors of ripe plums, cherries, and red fruit, accompanied by a soft mineral finish and round tannins that linger in a long, peppery finish. Whether paired with starters, pastas, or meat dishes, this versatile wine is the perfect addition to any meal.
Chianti is light-bodied with a uniquely savory flavor, notable tannins, and a fair amount of acidity. Common tasting notes associated with Chianti include tart cherries, balsamic vinegar, dried herbs, smoke, and game.
