Cognac Park is the premier brand from Distillerie Tessendier, a Cognac house established in 1880. Today, in its fourth generation of family ownership, the distillery and vineyards are composed within an estate of more than 60 acres in the heart of one of the most exclusive growing areas of Cognac: The Borderies.
Cognac's origins lie in the 16th century with the arrival in France of the Dutch. They bought plenty of French wine but struggled to keep their wine drinkable during its journey home, and thus began distilling it into eau-de-vie.Without a doubt, the names that are most heard of on a global scale are Hennessy, Remy Martin, Courvoisier, and Martell. These are the largest Cognac houses in terms of production and worldwide exposure. Between them they account for an incredible 90% of the worldwide market. And Hennessy is the most prolific of all.In 1643 Augier became the first company to start trading eaux-de-vie, and little by little cognacs were shipped further and further afield. It was thus how a certain Jean Martell came across the eaux-de-vie of Cognac in the early 18th century.
