Distillery Information

Campeon Tequila Anejo- Campeon tequila is made at El Viejito distillery in Atotonilco, Jalisco.Tequila is a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant. The drink is typically composed of 40% – 60% alcohol by volume (80 – 120 proof) and is made in Mexico. Tequila is made from the heart of the agave plant, which is called the piña.While some distilleries make just one Tequila, others might produce several. “Drinkers may not realize that the 3,000-plus Tequila brands on the market today come from fewer than 200 distilleries,” explains Jim Ruane, chief growth officer of Cierto Tequila. There are three major classifications of 100% agave tequila: Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo. The flavors of each of these tequila types are largely affected by how they are distilled and how long they are aged in oak barrels. The three main types of tequila are tequila blanco (also known a silver tequila), tequila reposado and tequila añejo. You can also find some tequila joven (joven means young) and at the other end of the scale, small amounts of extra añejo (extra old) tequila exists.
