At Bread & Butter, we know that chateau is just a fancy word for house. So, we're excited to welcome you to our home on the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley. Our wines have always been made in this beloved region, but now we're putting down different kinds of roots.
Coupled with a crisp dryness, light body and mellow colour and you can see why so many of us enjoy it. Sauvignon Blanc is almost always dry and young in style and rarely aged, although it is used in France to make refreshingly delicate, sweet dessert wines.
Sauvignon Blanc is most famously produced in Marlborough, New Zealand and France, where (in the former) its telltale gooseberry and grapefruit notes shine most brightly. It also does well in Australia, particularly Margaret River in the far west of the country, in addition to the Adelaide Hills.Sauvignon Blanc is usually fermented in a stainless-steel tank for about 12 days. To retain the fruitiness of the grapes the fermentation is performed at low temperatures (10 °C to 15 °C). By adding yeast and yeast nutrient to the must, sugar is converted to alcohol and carbon dioxide (CO2).
