Distillery Information

Bomberger's Distillery, more recently Michter's Distillery, is a non-operating distillery facility that was, at the end of the twentieth century, believed to be the oldest remaining such building in the United States. The complex, located near Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, represented the transformation of whiskey distilleries from a farm to large-scale industry. The surviving still house, warehouse, and pitcher house dates from about 1840, but the site has a documented history of the spirit of production since 1753.
With a back-and-forth ownership history spanning from 1753 with the Shenk Family to 1860 with Abraham Bomberger, the distillery went on to be traded even further from 1920 to Ephriam Sechrist on up until the 1950s when Louis Forman and Master Distillery Charles Everett Beam (of the renowned Beam family) purchased the ...The Chinquapin oak utilized for the aging was naturally air dried and seasoned for three years before being toasted and charred to the exacting specifications of our Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. In addition, some malted rye was used in the production of this bourbon.
Michter's describes their resurrection of the label which predates their own brand inception on their website saying: Bomberger's Declaration Distillery Bourbon honors the legacy of the former distillery known as Bomberger's in the 1800's and later as Michter's in the 20th Century.
