Distillery Information

Sauvignon Blanc is most famously produced in Marlborough, New Zealand and France, where (in the former) its telltale gooseberry and grapefruit notes shine most brightly. It also does well in Australia, particularly Margaret River in the far west of the country, in addition to the Adelaide Hills.J. Lohr produces three distinctive Chardonnays, all of which are considered dry wines in that almost all of the available grape sugars have been converted into alcohol during the fermentation process.
Coupled with a crisp dryness, light body and mellow colour and you can see why so many of us enjoy it. Sauvignon Blanc is almost always dry and young in style and rarely aged, although it is used in France to make refreshingly delicate, sweet dessert wines.
Sauvignon Blanc is typically high in acidity, full-flavored with mineral, grass and grapefruit notes, and has light to moderately high alcohol, depending on the climate (12.5–14% alcohol by volume).Sauvignon Blanc is a wine that has expressive and aromatic aromas ranging from tropical notes to crisp citrus and grassy. Additionally, its memorable, refreshing acidity leaves a lasting impression on the palate.Lohr, we have sustainably farmed for decades in our chosen appellations of Monterey, Paso Robles, and Napa Valley. Cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Monterey's Arroyo Seco and Santa Lucia Highlands. Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux grapes, as well as Rhone varieties from the warmer climes of Paso Robles.
For the most part, you can count on Sauvignon Blanc being a medium-bodied dry wine, which means it'll feel like it has some weight to it and no sweetness. Also, it's perhaps best known for its pronounced acidity, so don't be surprised if it makes your mouth pucker just a bit.
