The first age statement in the core range of Speyburn whiskies is their 10 year old , (followed by the 15yo tasted below, and an 18yo). The 10yo is composed of a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks which have been captured at 40% ABV, readily available at around £25 per bottle.1897 saw Queen Victoria celebrating the 60th year of her reign and John Hopkins, never one to let a good celebration go to waste, set himself a big challenge. He said he would build a distillery and craft a whisky in time to toast the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
