Distillery Information

The Pinot Grigio we are all accustomed to tends to exhibit white peach notes, slight citrus tings and a hint of pear. An element of perfume and light spice round off what is a light, easy-sipping white, while you may also experience additional flavours of honeysuckle, green apple or even grapefruit.
Barefoot Wine, produced by Modesto-based Barefoot Cellars, was purchased by E & J Gallo Winery in 2005.
The winemaking process for Pinot Grigio is much the same as with any wine. Once the grapes are harvested and crushed, the fermentation process begins to turn those squashed grapes into a boozy beverage.Pinot grigio is a popular planting in northeastern Italy, in regions such as Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In Italy, where the grape is known as Pinot grigio, plantings can be found in the Lombardy region around Oltrepò Pavese and in South Tyrol, Italy's northernmost wine region.
Light, crisp and refreshing, bursting with tropical fruit flavors and aromas. Delicate floral notes mingle with ripe pear, peach and melon on the nose, leading to bright citrus, white peach and tropical fruit flavors.
Located in Modesto, California, Barefoot Wines was originally created in the early 1960s by Davis Bynum in Alameda County, just east of San Francisco. He produced and sold Barefoot Bynum wines for almost 10 years, at which time he decided to focus on premium Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley.
