Arak Shellelet Zahle Tasting Notes:

Appearance:
Crystal clear in the glass, revealing a pristine and inviting character. When water is added, a mesmerizing louche effect occurs, transforming the liquid into a milky opalescence.

Aroma:
Aromatic waves of anise immediately greet the nose, accompanied by a subtle herbal bouquet. There's a delicate sweetness in the background, promising a well-balanced experience.

The first sip introduces a symphony of flavors. Anise takes the forefront, providing a licorice-like sweetness, while the distilled grape spirits add depth and complexity. As water is introduced, the palate unfolds with additional herbal nuances, creating a harmonious and evolving taste profile.

Distillery Information

Traditionally it is distilled in copper alembics using a double distillation process. The first distillation is much the same as one would perform for Portuguese aguardente (see The Portuguese Experience) to obtain a colourless eau de vie. This first distillation has an average alcoholic volume of 45 to 50%.
