There is much mystery to Kentucky Owl; who produces it, where does it come from, and how long is it aged? All of these questions are typically very important to those who are whiskey enthusiasts. It is very rebellious to give the market a great-tasting bourbon without asking these questions but why is Kentucky Owl doing it and still giving us great bourbon?

The limited run was in collaboration with Nagahama, a whiskey distiller from Japan, to produce this year's limited run of Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition. Sending samples of 4-, 5-, 6-, and 13-year-old Kentucky straight bourbons to Japan using mash bills incorporating corn, rye or wheat, and malted barley. This blended whisky has tasting notes that are similar to those of a Japanese whisky.
