La Luna Manso Sahuayo Mezcal

La Luna Mezcal is made in Etucuaro, Michoacan. Tucked away in this mountainous region is the municipality of Villa Madero, which is the home to the Perez Escot family and Destiladora Las Azucenas.
Proprietor Salvador Chavez, born in Michoacan, and raised as a teenager in Sonoma, California, returned to his family's heritage and began importing and producing mezcal in 2017. His family produces mezcal and local cheeses, and helps oversee operations.
The most well-known maguey is the blue weber agave, because it's used to make tequila. You read that right—tequila's a type of mezcal. Excluding tequila, the majority of mezcal is made from the espadin agave plant because it's high in sugar and matures quickly.Technically, all tequila is mezcal. The term mezcal refers to spirits made from the agave plant, while tequila refers to a specific type of mezcal that can only be made from blue Weber agave in five Mexican states. Mezcal can be made from a wide variety of agave varieties in nine Mexican states.
Luna Nueva Silver Tequila is a fresh and exuberant spirit with ideal clarify, a silky lightweight body and a wafting bouquet redolent with the aromas of tropical fruit, spearmint, white pepper, lemon grass and fresh herbs.
Traditionally, mezcal is handcrafted by small-scale producers. A village can contain dozens of production houses, called fábricas or palenques, each using methods that have been passed down from generation to generation, some using the same techniques practiced 200 years ago.
The name Luna means "moon" in Latin and in several languages with Latin roots, including Spanish and Italian. In ancient Roman mythology, Luna was the moon goddess. Also referred to as Diana, she is often depicted in Roman art driving a white chariot drawn by horses or oxen.La Luna tells us that if we find our own path we will succeed.
