Appearance: Gran Orendain Tequila Extra Añejo 80 showcases a deep mahogany color, a testament to its extended aging process. Nose: The aroma is rich and inviting, with pronounced notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak. Subtle hints of dried fruits, cinnamon, and nutmeg add complexity to the bouquet. Palate: Upon tasting, the palate is treated to a symphony of flavors. Sweet caramel and vanilla dominate, followed by layers of dark chocolate, toasted oak, and baking spices. The tequila's texture is luxuriously smooth, coating the palate with richness. Finish: The finish is long and lingering, with lingering notes of caramel, oak, and spice. A subtle warmth persists, leaving a satisfying sensation on the palate.

The distilling and aging process is the same, but while Añejo is left in an oak barrel between 12 and 35 months, Extra Añejo sits to age for a minimum of 36 months before being bottled, with some brands going up to 5 years of aging.Still owning El Llano, Jaime and Eduardo Orendain, 3rd generation Orendain, started Tequila Arette in 1986. Eduardo is also a former Mayor of the town of Tequila.
Extra añejo is a style of aged tequila. Extra añejo means the spirit must be aged for more than three years, typically in oak barrels. Most distillers use a variety of wood barrels to age extra añejo tequila, but the most popular are American and French oak.
Extra Añejo Tequilas are aged at least 3 years in barrels, making the product itself at least 10 years old - accounting for the time agave takes to grow, at least 7 years - by the time it touches your glass.
