In 1993, Ezra Brooks was purchased by Luxco of St. Louis, Missouri (formerly the David Sherman Company, renamed in 2006). Ezra Brooks is distilled at Luxco's Lux Row Distillers in "bourbon county" Bardstown, Kentucky, along with Luxco's other whiskey brands Rebel Yell , David Nicholson, and Blood Oath.
Rye's mash bill must, by law, consist of at least 51% rye. Most rye whiskeys use malted barley or corn as the other grains. As with bourbon, ground grain is mixed with water and a bit of mash from a previous distillation, in what's known as a sour-mash process.
Born and bred in Kentucky, the Ezra Brooks brand has been filling glasses with genuine American bourbon since 1957.It starts with genuine Kentucky sour mash. Then it's aged the old-fashioned way, charcoal filtered, and bottled at an honest 90 proof. That's straight-up authentic bourbon. Caramel and vanilla with hints of spice and chocolate for a smooth, warm finish.
Ezra Brooks is a genuine sour mash; aged naturally in new charred white oak barrels and charcoal filtered for a mellow flavor. Through seven generations it is, and will always be, the bourbon for those with a rugged spirit and a taste for adventure.

The Old Ezra brand is owned by Luxco of St. Louis (formerly the David Sherman Company), which formerly didn't own a distillery. Old Ezra is distilled, aged, and bottled in Kentucky by Heaven Hill Distilleries for Luxco. Luxco opened Lux Row Distillery, located in Bardstown Kentucky.
