The story of Scotch begins as early as the 15th century. The earliest documented record of distilling in Scotland occurred in 1494 in the tax records of the day, the Exchequer Rolls. An entry lists “Eight bolls of malt to Friar John Cor wherewith to make aqua vitae.”
Although the level of scientific involvement may vary, master distillers usually supervise the production of the spirits made at their distilleries and are responsible for the final products and their quality.
An Indian whisky has emerged as the world's best. The Indri Diwali Collector's Edition 2023 won the coveted 'Best in Show, Double Gold' award at the 2023 Whiskies of the World Awards.
