Pin Hook began as a tiny settlement that served as a traveler's rest before the railroad town of Durham was established in the early 1850s. Pin Hookers were folks who bought tobacco leaf that went unsold at auction, repackaged the product, and sold it for a tiny profit.
While Pinhook now uses a proprietary mashbill for its flagship bourbon and rye, both of which are distilled at Castle & Key Distillery in Kentucky, our ethos remains one of pinhooking–finding promising barrels, seeing them through to maturity, then blending and proofing to craft the best possible vintage every time.Cask strength whiskey (also known as barrel proof or barrel strength whiskey) is simply distilled and aged whiskey bottled directly from the cask at the distillery.
