The brand launched in London, England on 4 October 2012. Paul John Whisky is made from Indian 6-row malted barley and, for some variants, imported Islay and Aberdeen peat, distilled in traditional copper pot stills and then matured in charred American Oak casks at the company's distillery in Goa, India.
John Distilleries were founded in Bangalore in 1992 by owner and chairman Paul P. John. The first Whisky produced here was marketed as "National Distilleries" and sold on the Indian low-price market.
Most people naturally assume that “single malt” means just that – a single whisky from a single barrel. In fact, what a Scottish “single malt” actually means is that it is only malt whisky, prepared in the traditional way, and produced by a single distillery in Scotland.
To make this summer favourite, fill up your glass with ice. Then go ahead and add 60ml of Paul John Nirvana, 60ml of orange juice, 5ml of ginger juice and two lime wedges. Once done, snap a ginger and drop it in and, finally, top it up with either 7Up or Sprite and stir.
The 'single' in 'single malt' simply means that the whisky is the product of a single distillery. Therefore, while a single malt can contain whisky from many different casks, all of this whisky must have been produced by one distillery.
