Distillery Information

The Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky comes from Nikka's Miyagikyo distillery. This contains both a malt and a grain distillery. This whiskey is distilled in Coffey stills.
In 1934 Masataka opened the Nikka Whisky Co distillery in the town of Yoichi. Later, his second distillery was located in foggy glen surrounded by mountains and at a junction of two clean rivers, by coincidence the name of the river was Nikkawa.
The company operates a number of distilleries and other facilities in Japan, including two Japanese whisky distilleries, the Yoichi distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaidō (established in 1934), and the Miyagikyo distillery in Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Northern Honshū (established in 1969).
Nikka's Coffey Gin is an innovative spirit produced at the Japanese Miyagiko distillery, destined to rewrite the history of gin worldwide. It stems from extensive experimentation by Japanese producers with the Coffey column still, created in 1830 and imported from Scotland to Japan in 1963.
In the shadow of Mount Fuji, the most famous peak in Japan, lies the Fuji Gotemba Distillery, which actually stands as the largest distillery in the world.
