Ilegal Mezcal Reposado is a distinguished mezcal that embodies the rich traditions and meticulous craftsmanship of mezcal production. Each lot is aged to taste for six months in a combination of new and used American oak barrels with a medium char, sourced from the renowned Kelvin Cooperage, a family-run business since 1963. This reposado mezcal has garnered significant acclaim, including being named Best Reposado for 2023 by Esquire and earning Gold Medals at both the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the Tequila.net Awards. Committed to sustainability, all Ilegal Mezcal bottles are crafted from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) glass, contributing to environmental preservation by reducing landfill waste.
Appearance: Light amber, reflecting its time aged in oak barrels. Aroma: A complex and inviting bouquet with notes of caramelized pear and bitter orange, creating a harmonious blend of fruity and citrus scents. Palate: Smooth and layered, offering a rich tapestry of flavors. The initial taste reveals clove and butterscotch, providing a warm and spicy-sweet profile. Hints of vanilla emerge, adding a subtle sweetness and depth to the overall experience. Finish: Balanced and enduring, leaving a pleasant warmth and a lingering blend of spice and sweetness.
