Hardy Cognac located in the Crouin quarter of Dognac, France is a historic producer of Cognac brandy. It was founded in 1863 by British gentleman Anthony Hardy with the company remaining within the family to this day.VSOP stands for Very Superior Old Pale. VSOP cognacs are created from eaux-de-vie aged for at least four years.
Cognac can only be made from grapes grown in the strictly defined Cognac region of France. It must be made from the juice of at least one of three particular grapes, the most common being Ugni Blanc and the other two being Folle Blanche and Colombard.
VSOP Cognac stands for "Very Superior Old Pale" Cognac, which is interesting considering that it comes from France. The origin of the abbreviation VSOP dates back to a Cognac order from the British Royal Court in 1817 by King George IV.
VSOP stands for “Very Superior Old Pale”. To achieve this classification, VSOP cognacs must be created from eaux-de-vie aged for at least four years.
Is XO or VSOP better? An XO cognac must be aged for a minimum of 10 years, in comparison a VSOP must age for a minimum of four years. It comes down to personal preference which is better but an XO is usually considered as superior.
