Glen Scotia's Victoriana sees the Campbeltown distillery's single malt drawn from casks with a particularly heavy char profile, imparting plenty of rich, roasty-toasty notes. This, however, is the Victoriana Cask Strength expression.
Glen Scotia Distillery was founded in 1832, and has been operating for one hundred and eighty years. Situated in Campbeltown, one of the recognised 5 Whisky producing regions of Scotland, the distillery has a formidable pedigree. Campbeltown is a small town on the Kintyre Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland.
The Glen Scotia distillery has been around for ages, literally. The whisky that makes up Victoriana is at least 10 years old, but longer matured whisky is also used in the vatting, making for a hugely flavourful whisky.An Asia-based investment firm is buying out Loch Lomond Group, which owns Glen Scotia distillery in Campbeltown as well as the Littlemill single malt brand. Hillhouse Capital Management, a global investment management firm, will acquire the Scotch whisky producer from current owner Exponent for an undisclosed sum.Glen Scotia single malts are excellent examples of the Campbeltown style, with rich and subtly maritime, with tropical and baked fruit notes and salty finish that set them apart from other Scotch malts.
