The Dictador distillery is located in Cartagena de Indias on the Caribbean Sea in Colombia. Dictador rum is produced from sugar cane honey as opposed to molasses. In the rum production process, depending on its type, fermentation is subjected to so-called "Honey" - juice obtained from the first pressing of sugar cane.
Dictador rum leans towards the sweeter side on the nose, with scents reminiscent of caramel, almost chocolatey, and because of this, fits perfectly in cocktails such as Rum Old Fashioned or even for a Junglebird.After 36 years of aging, the rum is stored for 10 months in rye and bourbon casks sourced from the award-winning Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, KY. In nose: butterscotch, dried fruits, bourbon notes, and vanilla. In mouth: silky, dark chocolate, spicy fruitcake, figs and nuts.Dictador 10 ans is a molasses rum from the now-famous Colombian brand. Aged in Colombian white oak barrels, it features the typically roasted notes for which it is famous. Its 10-year age is a weighted age, as it is aged using the Solera method, which involves blending young rums with older ones.
Rum is a spirit made from sugarcane molasses or sugarcane juice. The sugarcane is fermented and then distilled. After distillation, the liquid will be clear and typically aged using bourbon casks, wooden casks or stainless steel tanks.
