Since the Terlato family assumed sole ownership of Chimney Rock in 2004, they have had a clear vision of the potential of this great estate. They have steadfastly supported and shepherded only the highest standards in viticulture and winemaking.
Originating from France's Bordeaux region, this grape has found its way into vineyards from Napa Valley's sunny slopes to the grassy terrains of Australia. Cabernet Sauvignon is famous for its deep, layered flavors – a mix of dark fruits such as blackcurrant, with hints of green pepper, and often a hint of oak.Although it originated in France, today Cabernet Sauvignon is an international grape produced in virtually every major winemaking region globally, although the variety tends to prefer warmer climates.Since the Terlato Family assumed sole ownership of Chimney Rock in 2004, they have remained steadfast in their vision for this great Estate.

Despite its prominence in the industry, the grape is a relatively new variety, the product of a chance crossing between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon blanc during the 17th century in southwestern France.
