Distillery Information

The brandy must have been produced exclusively within the municipal boundaries of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. It must be aged in American oak casks with a capacity of 500 liters that previously contained sherry.
Spanish brandy is primarily produced in Jerez in Andalucía (95%) and Penedès in Catalonia (5%). In Jerez, there are 30 producers, or bodegas, producing brandy in the “sherry triangle” formed by the towns of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.Product description. The much appreciated Brandy Solera Gran Reserva is produced using the traditional Criaderas and Soleras method, and it is credited with an ageing period of over 20 years as guaranteed by the Regulatory Council of Brandy de Jerez. Due to the age of this brandy, production is strictly limited.
In 1887, the owners of Sánchez Romate Hermanos began to make a unique, different brandy for their own consumption. The quality soon earned increasing fame and the winery decided to market it with the name Cardenal Mendoza.
The brandy Cardenal Mendoza, matured in Sherry casks, has an average age of at least 15 years, much more than the required minimum. All our brandies are Solera Gran Reserva, the highest category within the regulating council of Brandy de Jerez. It is the noble spirit from the area around Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.
