The distillery's name, "Caperdonich," is derived from the Gaelic word "Ceapair Dhonnich," which translates to "the place of Donnchadh," referring to a nearby farm.

Caperdonich distillery was known for producing rich, well-balanced single malts with a distinct character, and it became particularly famous for its unpeated style, which was unusual for Speyside whiskies.
