The 7 Stars 30 Year Blended Scotch Whisky is a distinguished blend that harks back to the heritage of Cadenhead’s historic practices of blending exquisite whiskies from carefully selected casks. Originally bottled decades ago to showcase the artistry of blending, this modern rendition maintains those time-honored traditions. Matured for 30 years and finished in Oloroso sherry casks, this whisky exemplifies a balanced and elegant profile without overwhelming sherry influence, making it a refined gentleman's dram.
Upon opening, the whisky initially appears closed and benefits greatly from an hour of breathing, revealing a complex old musty and dusty character with subtle sherry notes. The sherry influence is well-integrated, avoiding the overpowering sweetness found in some modern sherried whiskies. The result is a sophisticated, balanced whisky that retains the distillery's unique profile.
Nose: Initially closed, opens up significantly after an hour of breathing. Old musty and dusty notes emerge. Mild, well-integrated sherry aromas. Fresh lemon drizzle, coffee & walnut cake, rum and raisin, and caramel. Palate: Mild spices make a subtle entrance. Balanced and elegant sherry influence. Lightly roasted coffee, date syrup, and sticky toffee pudding. Retains the distillery's profile without being overshadowed by sherry. Finish: Medium-long duration. Maintains an old-style whisky charm until it gently fades away. Dry in the end, with notes of peppery salted caramel, nutmeg, and flint.
