Widow Jane is a Brooklyn-based small-batch distiller. In this expression, the Rye Mash spirit goes into casks that once held the distillery's ten-year-old bourbon, with a few oak and applewood staves, too. The result is a gorgeous balance of spicy oak and fruity sweetness.
Heirloom farm-to-bottle bourbon, using no genetically modified corns and the Wapsie Valley Corn varietal, plus a little bit of Malted Rye and Barley. This varietal of corn is a rich yellow corn and was used to breed the Baby Jane corn as the mother because of its sweet qualities. Distilled in Red Hook, Brooklyn.Hand assembled right here in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, we bring these to you with non chill-filtration, and proofed with a hard-yet-sweet pure limestone water from the Legendary Rosendale Mines of Upstate New York.
The bourbon was bottled at 49.5 percent ABV and is non-chill filtered. Although Widow Jane was acquired by Heaven Hill when the Kentucky distillery bought its parent company Samson & Surrey earlier this year, according to the brand the whiskey in this blend comes from Indiana and Tennessee, not the Bluegrass State.Rye's mash bill must, by law, consist of at least 51% rye. Most rye whiskeys use malted barley or corn as the other grains. As with bourbon, ground grain is mixed with water and a bit of mash from a previous distillation, in what's known as a sour-mash process.
