Distillery Information

Orphan Barrel Muckety Muck 24 is a rare single grain Scotch whisky crafted from select distillates obtained from the now-defunct Port Dundas Distillery in Glasgow, which ceased operations in 2010. Diageo released this limited edition whisky in 2021, after aging it for at least 25 years in American first-fill casks.
Many Orphan Barrel releases (although not all) have been bourbons, but Muckety Muck is something different: a single grain whisky from the Port Dundas Distillery, an enormous grain distillery that operated in Glasgow and closed its doors in 2010.The enterprise was established by global beverage giant Diageo in 2013. The focus is on older Bourbon – Orphan Barrel's releases are at least 15 years old – which are aged (but not distilled) at the Stitzel-Weller distillery in Shively, Kentucky, over 200 miles (350km) north of Tullahoma.Bourbon distillation is the process of purifying the bourbon by heating and vaporizing it. The vapor, once condensed, is collected to obtain a purer and more concentrated alcoholic substance. Most distillers put bourbon through distillation twice. In the first step, the bourbon goes through column stills.
